If you're
an academically ambitious and talented student, you'll find the
University Honors Program combines the best of a small liberal arts
school with the wide-ranging opportunities of a nationally recognized
research university. While you'll be part of a small community of
about 900 honors students, all of whom excel academically, you'll
also be part of a dynamic and diverse student body of 20,000 whose
interests vary widely.
You'll
join undergraduates from all departments and majors at The University
of Memphis. Each year, the University Honors Program admits approximately
200 freshmen, most of whom participate in all aspects of campus
life, including:
- student
government,
- athletics,
- the
Greek system,
- international
studies programs,
- and
many other campus activities
As an honors
student you'll be able to benefit from small classes that foster
greater interaction between students and faculty and among the students
themselves. You'll be challenged by enriched honors courses, interdisciplinary
seminars, independent study, honors thesis or creative project,
and conversations with visiting scholars. You'll have opportunities
to participate in nationally recognized undergraduate research conferences
and to extend your learning beyond the classroom and into the community
through internships and public service. And you'll have the option
to live on an Honors-designated floor within a residence hall, which
provides an atmosphere conducive to studying, but at the same time
a place where friendships are easily established.
You'll
benefit both personally and professionally from the special programs
and individualized attention that characterize The University of
Memphis Honors Program.
